SOP HRD: Three calls for project proposals to support Romanian Diaspora, launched for public consultation

The Ministry of European Funds, through the Managing Authority for the Sectoral Operational Programme Human Resources Development (SOP HRD), is launching for public consultation the necessary documents to launch three calls for projects to support Romanian Diaspora.

“There are three million Romanians living abroad. Many have become citizens of other countries, but their nationality will always be a part of their identity. They will be Romanians for the rest of their lives, and the Romanian state has the obligation to govern on their behalf as well. Consequently, the European Funds allocated for Romania also target the Romanian Diaspora. Thus, we are launching three calls to support Romanians working abroad, by three distinct means. First of all, by continuing vocational training, designed to help them adapt faster and better to the cultural and economic specificities in their countries of residence. Second, we will financially support the Romanians who want to become entrepreneurs abroad. And we are not forgetting those who left their families here. We designed a “school after school” programme for children who have at least one parent abroad”, declared Eugen Teodorovici, Minister of European Funds.

The Guides published for public consultation were developed in cooperation with the Department of Policies for Liaison with Romanians Everywhere.

The future call for project proposals “Continuing vocational training for employees”, will support participation in continuing vocational training programmes in order to acquire a qualification or to increase the level of qualification, including by supporting transportation and meals costs during the training period, and incentives aimed at improving effective participation.

The call for project proposals “Romanian entrepreneurs in Europe” will finance projects to support assistance activities so that Romanians living abroad could start their own business.

At the same time, the call for project proposals “Prevention and correction of early school leaving” will support, first of all, activities such as “school after school” (especially literacy and numeracy skills etc.), but also the delivery of flexible educational programmes such as “second chance”, aimed at developing core competences and personal skills for early school leavers of school drop outs. Children whose parents are working abroad should be at least 50% of the total target group assumed at project level.
