The Fit for Future platform has been launched to simplify existing EU legislation

The European Commission launched yesterday, 11 May, the Fit for Future platform, which will bring together a high-level group of experts to help the Commission simplify existing EU legislation and reduce the administrative burden on citizens. and businesses. According to the official statement, the platform will also help ensure that EU legislation is adapted to the demands of the future, given the need to address new challenges, such as digitization.

The Ready for the Future Platform – which is made up of the Government Group and the Stakeholder Group – brings together Member States’ national, regional and local representatives, the Committee of the Regions, the European Economic and Social Committee and stakeholder groups with practical experience in various policy areas.

Once the platform is operational, the general public and stakeholders will be able to contribute to the work of the platform in terms of simplification and burden reduction.

Application for selection of experts

The Commission has published the call for applications for the selection of experts to be part of the Stakeholder Group of the “Ready for the Future” platform. The members of this group who will be selected following the call for proposals should have a high level of expertise in the implementation of EU law and should be able to represent the common interests of the various stakeholder organizations in their area of ​​competence. . These experts must represent enterprises, in particular small and medium-sized enterprises, social partners and civil society organizations with direct experience in the application of Union law.
